Hi guys.
I was (proof)reading Paul A. Herd's book "Chevelle SS resto. guide", and on page 147 states "Two bright air vents were placed on the lower section of the instrument panel on each side. When air conditioning was ordered, the vent bezels were were painted to match the lower portion of the instrument panel."

I know that there have been several inaccuracies posted here about this book so I need to check this out. My car never had air, but they are painted black. I have also never seen a Chevelle with chrome astro vent bezels, I thought that was a Camaro only deal. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

The bezels will be black. The balls that go in the bezels will be chrome with the inside surfaces being black. These bezels are usually plastic in the right side and a grain finish rubber on the left side.

And yes, I also have seen my inaccuracies in this book. Never hesitate to ask.

Pleanty of help here at Team Chevelle!

Ok, awesome info. New question: what was the purpose of the grained rubber bezel on the driver's side, and a smoothe plastic bezel on the passenger? Could it be that he driver's side need to be flexable in car it got bumped while entering or exiting the vehicle?

Thanks for the help.
