Trying to figure what seems to be the task of the year,,, Have the 6K tach and the underdash harness for the tach, the engine & the forward lamp harness is gone,,, have a good set of them from a malabu but can they be used, i know the tach wire is not there but how about the other guages,,, can i make it work or am i better off spending the BUCKS

yes my car is AC originally with no tach option and should have the 5500, but i cant resist the abuse i will get from this one!!!

Not sure about the other gauges but, the tach wire comes out through a grommet in the fire wall to the right of the master cylinder. This is how the wiring is on a 68 El Camino I just parted out and my 71 El Camino, both of which are factory tach cars.

Just went through this. My "starter" harness (which includes the correct tach wire for the coil) was trash to start with, so I got a new one ($93) and added the tach wire (brown) from "behind" the fuse block to the tach connector. (Got the REAL terminals from a local AC/Delco electrical dealer) Used "Noneck's" instructions GOOD STUFF and it went well. If you have a decent "starter" harness already, you just need to follow the instructions.
