Hi all.
I'm new to the forum and recently bought my first El Camino. It's a stock '68, however I'm not in love with the bland grille. I much prefer the looks of the '69 grille, but I'm not sure if they're interchangeable. I called OPGI, but they weren't exactly sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Team Chevelle!

The grilles are not a simple swap. They can be interchanged using more ‘69 specific parts.

If you haven’t tried it, paint it semi-gloss black first. It makes the rest of the brightwork stand out.

Thank you for the welcome and your response, Alan. I've done enough research now to know that the replacement of my existing grille with a '69 would be more problematic than I care for. I'm probably going to go with your suggestion and do the blackout, but I may also look at a billet grille. I have a couple more months to decide.

I like the 68 better as it doesn't have the plastic and the center strip on it. Maybe if you want take of the chevy symbol and paint the grill black like the SS has.

if your grill is in good condition I would paint it black like already said, I bought a new replacement grill for my 68 and it doesn't fit right, and treat your side molding eyebrow? trim like gold, replacements are way off
