68 Build Specifications
Im a simple engineer that has a tendency to over engineer my hobby projects. This 68 build is not my first hot rod, I started in 76 with a 68 Chevelle coupe, then off with a 86 corvette and last was a 65 Chevelle coupe, but the 68 is by far the most extreme build I have enjoyed.
Found the car in South Dakota shed as a roller chassis, powder coated frame and substandard body restore. The complete car was in bins and no drive train. Sent it off for a complete body restore from bare metal and began building the rest of the car as I waited for the gem to arrive.
It was a challenging build in a small garage and all by myself. I had over a year to engineer the how I was going to assemble this car in a safe manor and to explore my hot rod bucket list of to-do’s.
Virtually all parts are either new, restored or modified to either fit as intended or re-engineered to fit properly.

Awesome car (obviously..)!

I'm curious - how's that cold air intake working for you? I've been kicking around the idea of getting one myself.

You had me liking this car right up to the point I saw it had a black convertible top and body. The only thing that could be worse if the interior was black so you lucked out there. ;) Who in there right mind would have a black 68 convertible. LOL.... Nice wheels but then again I am partial.

Based on the OP's Pics the Filters are sucking in Hot Air from the Engine Compartment
therefore they are not Cold Air Intakes IMO
A true Cold Air Intake takes/Sucks Air from infront of the car and directs it into the Carb
like my Ram Air one does

OP great job of the Rebuild on your Car
my first Chevelle i drove was a brand new 2 Door 68 300 Deluxe 307 ci PG of my Dad's

I love your Car's Interior Colour and the Black Paint / Top
Not a Fan of 18/20" Wheels on these old cars

To bad that Big 555 will never see the Drag Strip

You are 100% correct
This setup was a last choice for an air cleaner that fit.
The 800+ Hp available satisfies fine with hot air
