Please help me fellows! I talked to a farmer an hour or so from me tonight and he told me he has a 1968 Chevelle SS sitting on his farm. He wants $1000 for it!! I need to know what to look for to verify this as a Chevelle SS and not a CLONE! I have been doing frantic research on this and I'm coming up with all types of stuff from hidden tags to VIN codes. Can someone PLEASE let me know what I need to look for to identify this car? I NEVER get breaks like this, if it is the real deal I will be amazed, but I need to check it out. Please help as I am heading out there in the morning. Thanks alot.

Kevin. 134 is a 300 Deluxe. What is "pretty rough"? $1000 is still a good price.

Well I'll describe it as best as I can. It's got no engine or tranny. The only badging is "327" on the front fenders, and "SS" on the rear. The entire interior is redone in a horrible looking shaggy blue material. It is full of junk and parts (rad, driveshaft etc) the body has bondo on it, and is showing rust around wheel wells. The chassis is rusty also especially under the door sills and where it goes over the rear end. The winshield is busted, the door glass is good, and rolls up. The passenger door won't open. The seats are torn all to heck. The dash looked ok. I didn't lift the hood. I don't want anything to do with it because the fellow selling it told me on the phone that he checked the VIN and it was definately an SS. As soon as you see it you know it isn't, and the VIN confirms that. I half expected it to be a badged up clone, but to tell a guy that it's an SS when it quite obviously isn't is shady. I talked to a fellow at the garage in this dudes hometown, and he told me the car was used as a donor car for another Chevelle which was restored by the previous owner. Like I said if anyone wants it I'll let you know how to get a hold of the fellow. I just don't want it on principle. Thanks for the help also guys. It was easy to identify with your advice. Kevin.

To those of you that think ANY chevelle is a steal for $1000, I'll send them to you by the truckload as I buy them up for $50 - $100 for total junkers around here. ;) It's a win for all of us. :D
