Hello all,
I just got back from the Mid-America Chevelle Show in Kansas City. We were drenched on the drive home. Now, my wipers worked, but it really made me think I wanted to upgrade.

So i just digging through the archives, I found Raingear and DSE do not make the depressed park aftermarket systems anymore. Neither does Newport Engineering. SO, where I am - I found some old threads suggesting the DSE kit was just old GM parts repackaged. Anybody RECENTLY looked into this or did this swap? I am wanting a more modern wiper system, and am finding nothing. So I don't mind building it, looking for others experiences?

Late model wiper motor into 70

Detroit Speed still has it on their website. Looks like they changed the design slightly. I have an older one from them and it works great!

So, yes I did look at these, but you will notice on their website that it is ONLY FOR NON-DEPRESSED wipers. The problem child for everyone seems to be the park function. I was at the National El Camino show last September and talked with a few guys that purchased the earlier Detroit Speed version and was told that they didn't work very well and if you got them out of sync (I don't know how that would happen it wasn't my car) then they quit parking, would stop at weird spots on the windshield., etc. Which tells me that they were trying to use an encoder on the wiper motor to tell what location it was in. Great idea in theory, but cars are a little more abused than the precise machinery I have worked with that used an encoder setup. AND I imagine it was expensive to build and engineer. That's why they are >$500 for the setup.

Ohh, ok. Of course, I hardly ever use mine as I avoid rain like the pandemic. The one time I used it passing through a T-storm on way back from car cruise in it seemed to work really well. Guess they stopped making them due to low demand or something? Pretty sure mine parked? Duh...lol.

Joe!!! Long time, no talk!!! I'll check this out. I still have the problem. I was looking into Tesla wiper motors but can't get anyone to sell me a pigtail with motor..... And life has gotten in the way.
