Hey all, got a quick question for ya, I am looking at a 68 ss396, decent shape but the block has " truck" stamped on it, the guy did not tell me it was origanal but I am wondering if I should stay away from it cause of this block, or does it make a big diff, thanks for your help!!!

j,

The truck block is different. It would not be original. The car still might be a good deal and if you plan on a change over to a pass car block there are quite few parts that would interchange(heads, crank). It alls depends on what you want to do and are willing to spend.....Good Luck!

The motor is more than likely not one of the tall deck motors the are associated with truck motors. There are lots of blocks floating around that are marked truck and are normal blocks. Get the casting number off the driver side rear of the block, that will identify the motor.
