I've seen other posts on this, but nothing was really definitive.

The orginal power window motor in my '67 is getting really slow...like embarassingly slow.

Is there a bolt-in replacement available? Can the original be rebuilt? I've heard about Blazer power window motors being used- what (if any) mods are required to do this swap? Are the Blazer motors readily available, and will they be for a long time? I'd hate to swap an orphan motor out for one that'll be an orphan in another few years!

How hard is it to swap this thing out? Access looks unpleasant (at best) and if there's a trick to it, I'd like to hear it BEFORE I dig in to this thing.

Also- obviously I have a '67. Is this motor different from other years, or are they pretty much identical? If I find an NOS motor for a different year, should it swap right in?

Since the first one lasted 40-plus years, I'm hoping if I do this once, I should be okay for awhile.

Sometimes a slow motor can be cured by cleaning the tracks, lubing the guides and tracks, new fuzzies on each side, a general clean and lube for all the moving parts.

Scotch,

I have mine out, and I cleaned it all up, works better, but still needs the motor either rebuilt, or replaced. I did find a backup unit with a motor that was stashed away. I'll look into seeing what it would cost to have the original rebuilt I can't find a blazer motor to match up to it.

Thanks Rob. I would prefer to have the original rebuilt, but I haven't found anyone locally who will do it, and I haven't found a new/replacement motor either. Let me know if you find anything, and I'll do the same!

Call Jerry @ (651) 771-0112 with Accurate Electric Motor Service. He is available M-F 1pm to 5pm. He told me that if it can be opened up, it can be fixed, just as long as the motor isn't sealed. I told him mine can be serviced.
