Hey guys,
I currently own a 1967 El Camino and I am having a bear of a time trying to get the electrical all figured out. I had some major problems with the taillight assemblies (still looking for OEM replacements no lenses, just the assemblies if you have any links) so I swapped in a pair of trailer tail lights in the mounting positions just to test the wiring integrity. I have yet to get my digital multimeter (should arrive in about 2 days) and my test light just died, so I am stuck without any means of testing the circuits. I was curious on wondering what you all thought the problem might be. Bad ground? Bad brake light switch? Fried wire? I have replaced all the fuses, and none are burnt, so that kills the easiest bird, but I still am brake-light-less. I am being pressured heavily from the 'forces that be' to sell the Elky, and the lack of brake lights is the main drive behind the decision to sell. If you guys could help it would be greatly appreachated. Thanks alot.

Jeff Hester

No meter or test light as the forces are bearing down. Rough situation. Best I can suggest under fire with no help:
1, Turn one of the turn signals on
2, Access one of the rear bulbs
3, Touch one end of a piece of wire to the bulb where it meets the glass.
4, Touch the other end of the wire to a good known frame ground.
Does the bulb change? Like the other filament lit up? If so, a bad ground wire.
Best I can think of until you get your meter.

john,
Well (hopefully) the forces will not bear down so hard until i can get my meter and start really do some prodding. Do you think it would be a bad ground before it would be the brake light switch? I am sorry I am asking so many questions. Thank you very much.
