I'm trying to figure out a ballpark weight for my vehicle. I understand certain options impact the overall weight. Anyone have an idea what a 67 malibu convertible with a 396 should weigh?

I've got bucket seats, automatic on the floor, disk breaks up front, no air, no power breaks or steering.

Not looking for actual weight just a ballpark. Any ideas? I've searched but can't find anything.

Your thoughts. Thanks Doug.

67 convertible! I envy you already even if it weighs 6 tons. Only 12,772 Chevelle convertibles were built in 67 including all models. A very desirable car just by the numbers. If the VIN is a 135 it weighed 3050 lbs. If it's a 136 it weighed 3185 lbs. from the factory. Being that it now has a 396 you need to get the actual weight of that engine and add it to the weight of a factory unit depending on the model you have. Possibly even subtract if you're lucky enough to have an aluminum block.:)

Thanks Davis95. This is a nothing special car except its convertible. Vin is 136. Motor is not original (obviously). I'm going to have to replace a lot of metal on the car (rust) but I plan to do it myself. It will be good therapy. I would really love this car to be my daily driver so I'm seriously thinking of putting in a LS6 or something like that for reliability that will still give me the muscle when I need it. I'll probably keep the 396 in the corner of the garage for safe keeping.

Whats the opinion of the LS6 idea? Bad or good idea? Keep in mind, I'm thinking of a daily driver and it will be done right. Total frame off rotiesserie restoration.

Are you sure you mean LS6? The LS6 is a 454 found in some 1970 Chevelle SS. I think the 396 would be a better choice for a daily driver over an LS6. I think a better bet for a daily driver would be LS1 from a late model Camaro with an overdrive tranny. You might also beef up those brakes and steering. If you want to drive it everyday remember you'll be on the road with new cars that stop and steer waaaaayyyy better.
