The only gauge that Chevy installed in the console on a '66/'67 Chevelle was a timepiece. They usually worked for about 6 months before they packed it in for good. If you ordered full instrumentation from the factory without a console then, Chevy put a freestanding clock on the hump all by itself. Don't feel bad; Oldsmobile felt that a tachometer belonged there! Definitely the opposite of a Heads Up Display like on the current Pontiacs.
I have the full complement of factory guages and, if you don't, don;t sweat it. They're not that good. There are no actual measurements, and the blinker tack is a true PITA to see. I run a vaccum guage in the console clock hole.
