This past weekend, as part of chasing some wiring, I decided to pull the rug out of my Chevelle. As with most things when you work on a car, solve one problem, three more replace it. Or a whole bunch of questions need to be answered.

I found a wire that I think powers the center console. When car is off, no voltage. When car is on I get 12v.

Can anyone tell me what this wire is? What does it connect to? Does this wire power the center console? I found it right behind the heater controls with electrical tape all over it.

I've seen this on the pictures of the dash wiring harness at SS396, OPGI and AAW. Any help would be appreciated.

Neutral safety switch wires are generally purple on Chevys. Inside the cabin, the orange wire is typically for the glove box light, under the hood I believe the blower motor wire is often orange. The one pictured is missing the plastic connector that the end shown snaps into.

Naw, the rear has a wide terminal and accepts a two tipped bulb. Console wring is usually both orange and white, but mine has a clock so. . I dont recall seeing the glove box light wire, but could be. Radio light is yellow if I recall. ( have to change bulb out).

Hey, dig up schematics; I know they're up here somewhere online.

I would love to dig up a schematic for the console. Cannot find one. I even reached out to Classic Car Wiring. The guy who produces the laminated schematics says he has looked and cannot find a console schematic. I may be on my own on this one.
