In the process of gussying up the interior of my '66, I want to change the original steering wheel to a nice Grant. Problem I'm running into is the wheel refuses to come off. I've broken two extractors and practically used half-can of liquid wrench, not a budge. Do I need to change the whole column now? Its not a tilt column, has one branch on the tree. If I need to replace, where can I get one, repro or search the yards? Any help or advice would be welcome, thanks.

Corsair. If you have broken 2 extractors this probably means that the threaded holes in the steering wheel are still okay. I always use a piece of 10 mm. iron with the appropriate holes drilled into it and 2 good grade bolts. Could be your extractors weren't not strong enough ? A bit tapping on the extr. will help, once the tension is on.
