and btw Senna - I am also in San Jose - out in the Evergreen southeast foothills. Shoot me a PM if you need some help at some point - would be awesome to compare notes. I just picked up this '66, but also have a full pro-touring built 1971 Camaro.

Hyper Blue was one of my choices. I really like that color. I only chose Admiral as it is just a touch darker and I think iit has just a little more purple in it.

That color looks amazing, can't wait to see it completely sprayed! I've always lusted after Corvette electron blue metallic, still have yet to get it on a car though.

Be sure you about have the tie rods hitting the oil pan at full lock, it's a pain to get the pinion angle right if you don't. When you measure for your driveshaft if it's 55.5" center to center, go to your local pull a part and grab an aluminum shaft out of a crown vic. Damn near better than anything you can purchase from the aftermarket right now. If you're running short tires and a high gear you'll find the critical speed of normal driveshaft too quick.

Thank you Hotwire. I'll check the tie rods for sure. A Crown Vic drive shaft would probably be a WAY cheaper way to go. However, I might just have one built with a CV joint to help reduce vibration from angles. I would also have to check the ends on the crown vic driveshaft. I just don't know enough about drive shafts. My trans is a 4L70 and the rear end is a 9 from Quick Performance. Are the ends the same?

The driveshaft uses 1330 style universal joints. You could put whatever ends you need on it, but knowing you're running a 9 inch, you'll most likely need a shorter shaft.

Had the car up on the lift and got to take some pictures. I think it looks pretty good (except for the rear end that is getting changed out for a 9" shortly.

Question: Do you guys know the best place to get covers for the space between the oil pan and bell housing? LS3, 4L75E, Holley 302 pan.

Looks amazing!! You can google these part numbers, they're for the factory blockoff plates. Need short 10mm bolts to attach them to the oil pan.

24261712 - starter shield
24261713 - flywheel blockoff plate

Can't believe I can't find the pictures, but the 9" rear end is in. And bodywork is done. A little guide coat and final blocking, then we're into the booth for paint. Hoping to have it back home by the end of the year to finish assembly. Pics of body in (hopefully) the last primer:

Car is masked to jamb all the parts and paint the inside as well. We're waiting for a little warmer weather as the booth at the shop doesn't have the greatest heating system. Getting closer.

Question for everyone - I ordered the headers from Holley in JULY of last year and they keep delaying and stringing me along. Now it says they estimate shipping in May. Frankly, I'm pretty pissed. Can anyone suggest another set of headers that will work? I'm using all the Holley motor mounts, crossmember, oil pan, etc. I was thinking about the Doug's. They're way cheaper and come with v-bands. Any other suggestions?

Updates. Sooooo close to getting out of paint jail. I was afraid the color might be a little dark. But in the sun, it looks awesome in my opinion. The first two pictures are the grill to bumper cowl out in the sun. The rest are in the booth. Don't mind the pics with the dashpad. We' were just trying to figure out whether we need to matte clear the dash for glare

Yes, my dash is glossy red and the reflection can make the bottom 6" of the windshield very hard to see through when the sun is high in the sky.

I drove an MG TD last year that had a glossy yellow dash and it was very bad also. The previous owner had dark colored rag he'd put onto of the dash to help visibility.
