Wow, I remember back in the 80's they were hard to come by.

Goodmark sells them :

Year one has them, when i used them to restore my 67 nova ss their stuff was good and if it was junk they would not sell them,i would not have a problem with reman stuff if it was good. Not a numbers matching car.WHO has has good luck with the reman stuff and where did you get it?ALso i don't need nos stuff just a good set i can have redone.Don't say original parts parts group, sent back my sets and they we nice enough to check their other parts in stock and said "you would not be happy with what i have,so at least they went the extra mile to try to make me happy so i have no bad stuff to say about gregg at opg. I live in northern calif so if any one knows a good place to try to get some originals from let me know:hurray::thumbsup:

Went through a couple sets myself. IME, the fit is terrible. The repops I used were obviously not bent the same as my originals. I made them fit, but it took some serious work, and they still don't equate to originals.

Ditto for the headlight surrounds. Bend and radii details are sloppy and incorrect. Surface finish is rough and uneven.

A popular vendor has admitted to me that "only one company" is stamping these particular parts, and that "the fit and finish is not that good at this time". That was in mid 2012.

The landscape for 66 model reproduction bright work and grille trim remains bleak, at least as of late 2012, when I ordered my last parts of this type.

P.S. The 66 SS grille I bought was from a well known vendor. It was widely advertised and recommended as a "premium part". While cosmetically acceptable, it was plagued with serious problems, including most especially incorrect metallurgy. The Aluminum selected by the repop mfg. was a much softer alloy than OEM. I did a Rockwell on both - this is not a guess on my part. The OEM part appears to be A93004-H34 alloy. The repop is A93003-H14. That's 33-50% softer...no doubt to save a nickel. Result is that the repop grill is so soft it cannot tolerate even the slightest bump, push, impact or even "lean up against it" without seriously deforming. Basically, it is an imitation grille - incapable of actually performing its primary function. :-/

Just FYI

WOW did I get lucky last Nov. I got both Eyebrowls, Grill, Grill extensions and hood moulding for a VERY good price! They are all NOS or OEM and in all good shape. Very few minor imperfections that prob wont even be noticed once they are on. I have to paint the extensions yet (But they all had to be painted from what I hear even back in 66) so they match the grill. This is also a major piece that is missed in alot of SS resto's. They are only stripped black and chrome on the Malibus not the SS they are all black in the middle like the grill. Anyway there is a picture of the stuff on page 8 of my project forum page.

Good luck man I hope you find some.

I'm in the same boat. I reluctantly went ahead and used my repop grill, but I too have my original which is worthy of re-anodizing. I'm almost at the point where I'm ready to set up and do the anodizing myself. Aluminum anodizing is not the challenge that Chrome is, though it still requires considerable effort and investment.

P.S. Frank, I'm pretty sure those parts you bought were actually meant for me. :D

Yeah, Tony - let us know what they quote to do those. I don't see any pricing info on their site. Thanks!

Wow! I want to support good vendors, but IMO that's crazy. $3-400? Heck, you could buy the stuff and do it yourself and do a bunch of other parts at the same time for less than that...you could probably buy an NOS set of eyebrows for that much!

Wonder if one could work out a deal where you strip, de-smut, straightened and buffed them yourself...then send them to the anodizer "almost ready" and ask them to touch up your prep work and just re-anodize. The stripping, de-smutting and buffing are the hard ugly work.

Just a thought.
