I want to change out my steering column. I would like a tilt column with the ignition switch on the column. I do not care that the ignition switch will not be on the dash. Now my question ....what is out there in the junk yards that will interchange with my 66 chevelle. I know i will have to make some changes.

I can't think of any that would directly interchange that has a steering column mounted ignition setup. Why not go with something from Flaming River or Ididit? I'm sure both have 69 and later styled columns. Their tech departments may even be able to help you with any questions on mounting, wiring, etc.

Money is the problem.It would be nice if I could buy a aftermarket one. There has too be someone who has done this out there. There are so many steering columns out there one of them should change out with some modifications.

Money is always a problem, that's for sure. I'm sure there are many out there that will work with modification. All I'm suggesting is that by the time you find one it'll likely need rebuilding, fabrication, wiring, etc. and for $550 or so you can get a new one with everything except the steering wheel and probably less fabrication needed.
