66 Chevelle Frame front “spring” seat shape.

I cut the front springs too much and now I want to put spacers on.
Can anyone tell me if the frame where (Top where the spring sits) the spring sits is FLAT or does it have the same shape as the lower control arm (where the bottom of the spring sits)
I haven’t taken the car apart yet but I want to order the spacers a head of time so I can have them when I do the job and minimize my down time.
Thanks for your help.

Not 100% sure that your frame is the same as mine, but Mark at SC&C advised me there is an upper frame index, although much less dramatic than the lower one.

After messing around for what seemed like hours, i believe this is a picture of the upper index.

You might not be able to match up the upper and lower indexes since you cut the spring and I am not sure which is the best to choose if you have to.

Also when speaking with Mark, the upper spring "seat" is only about 5/8" deep. That means that the lip that holds the spring in place will only work with a spacer that is 1/4" thick or less. The impact to ride height is about 2X the spacer thickness.

Another good idea he passed on is wrapping the spacer and spring with black duct tape so as you index the spring the spacer and spring do not move as separate units.

thanks Chicken Coupe for the great reply and info.
would it be a problem if i install a Flat spacer.
My 68 has the "pig tail" springs but the surface on the frame is flat. The car rides perfect, no noise and it feels nice and tight.
could it be an option if it needed to be.

I Think I will be skipping the spacer set.
Does any one know the correct part # for the front springs for a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 PG, No AC?
I afraid to get another set because the first set I got from NPD maxed out the suspension then I over cut them. I called them about it but according to their info they sent me the correct application. So if any body has a Brand and Part # please post it up.
Thanks

The spacers are in
They fit perfect and the height is perfect now
the one thing that I am a bit worried about is that the spacer is not completely round it is about 3/4 of a circle I just wonder if it could allow the spring or the spacer to move out of position I guess only time would tell.
At this time I WOULD recommend these spacers to any one
Like I said the fit was perfect and the price is right.
