Guys if you may, is there anyone that knows how these correctly fit? Seems there is a slight gap before the wheel mouldings? Is this correct? Ive looked at pictures and you can see colcor in this area. These are aftermarket rocker mouldnings and wheel well mouldings. So im just trying to make sure this is correct fittment. Anyone know what the proper amount of gap is? Or do you just center it?

There is a note in the AIM about the alignment of these pieces. I'll try to find it.

I just did mine a few months ago, and noted that the repop a were a wee bit shorter than OEM

O.K. Here it is
Assembly Instruction Manual UPC 1 sheet C1, pp 41, NOTE states

"Molding to be butted against front fender wheelhouse opening molding"

So basically, they go FORWARD until they butt against the front frenderwell molding. Whatever the back opening is, it just is. That's what the AIM says.

Looks like a good idea to get your installer to look at that sheet.

The AIM page I noted above provides all necessary info to get them right. That's what I meant by "sheet"

Oh duh!! Didnt even think about looking in there because these are after market rocker panels and remember reading someplace that they werent the same size. Thats why I was looking to see how the Aftermarket ones were being installed. Ive seen them where there is a slight gap in front and in back. I seen them where there was no gap at all?? Or as you stated a slight gap in the rear. So I was just trying to see how you guys installed after market rocker mouldings.

Thnx though.

Yes, My aftermarket pieces were short. :-/ Yes, I had to compromise my mounting location just a bit, otherwise the rear gap was obviously excessive.

Just makes me crazy... I mean, how hard is it to get a dimension like this CORRECT? You find an original piece for your reference. You measure it and you make the new reproduction piece exactly the same length. When you pop out your demo part, you double check it against an original. If it is not the right length, you adjust the die to compensate for the error.

How hard is that?

Why oh why are these little details so often WRONG on repop parts?

Can you flare out the ends a tad? I mean any little bit helps. If your able to flare it out about a 1/8" on both ends that should be close to doing the trick. My mouldings are at his shop so I cant really look at them and dont recall what the neds look like.

I've been preaching this for years, Keith - how hard can it be to copy an original part to look AND fit AS original? Unbelievable.

If I was rich, l:) I'd start a repro parts company that made them as good or better than GM originals.
