I recently bought some SS gauges off of ebay (and feel I got ripped of big time, but oh well) I'm not going to do anything with them, so was going to just get rid of them. Do you think they worth anything to anyone, or just toss them?

I'm just going to get the reproduction ones for $170

I paid almost $70 for these. Photos really mis-represented the condition when I bid on them. They are in BAD shape (I'm just trying to get an opinion if they are worth anything, not trying to sell them here)

Sadly I'd say they're pretty well gone. Repops might be the way to go. I don't know if those from Shiftworks are any better than the rest. There's are $205 but it might pay in the long run if they're better quality. I'd spring for the voltmeter instead of the ammeter.

BTW, the U14 gauge option are not "SS" gauges. The SS series and SS options didn't come with gauges. They're an option available for almost every year Malibu V8, SS or not.

Ok, thanks for the info. I figured it would cost more to have them redone than it would for the repops. I'm not at all worried about having my car original. To far gone for that. I like the gauges though:thumbsup:

I never realized they were an option on the Super Sports though. I guess if you didn't get the gauges and had a console, they had the clock delete in the dash?

Clocks were standard on Malibu & SS in 67 (optional on 300 & 300 Deluxe), no such thing as clock delete. :thumbsup:

Bench seat, no gauges ~ clock in dash.
Bench seat w/gauges ~ clock on floor (1966 moved clock to top of dash).
Bucket seat, no console ~ same as two above w/and w/o gauges.
Bucket seat w/console ~ clock always in console whether gauges or not.

I think by "clock delete" he meant the blank piece with the + on it that was put in the clock hole in the dash in a Malibu or SS with a console.

I'd give the gentleman the benefit of the doubt but it's not correct terminology anymore than an A/C delete plate or radio delete plate is correct. You can't 'delete' something that was optional. The gentleman didn't know that SS cars didn't come standard with gauges, a common misconception by many. Just trying to keep the truth in the forefront. :thumbsup:

Bill, I would be interested in the housing if it's not completely eaten by rust should you decide not to use them. If you go with the repops, they are made for the openings in a non-guage housing. Please keep me in mind, thanks in advance Jason.

That right, the repros fit in a non-guage dash.
IMO, Shiftworks are the better repro, at least looks-wise. They are not identical, faithful reproductions, but they are very similar. Building a clone or hat rod, I'd go Shiftworks, but first-class resto, go originals...

OPGI (and others) also carried another repro brand, that IMO didn't look good at all...

So, what piece of standard equipment are you 'deleting'?

A radio delete plate or A/C delete plate is no more correct than a manual tranmission can be considered an automatic delete or vice versa.
