what would u say shes worth?

im trying to work a deal on her, she isnt perfect but fairly solid body etc. paint chips flakes cracks, turn signal lever broken just dangles, some surface rust on bumper near plate and underside, slight leak in dif, mild fog on all chrome trim, som rotted 3rd window striping, drum brakes, needs some work interior, brakes suspension and trim. having hard time getting all info on it from seller such as shop specs etc, may be able to drive daily seems fairly solid just priced high..

136 car from fremont looks to be originallly blue, has a 350 in it, 3.73's

im thinking 16k is most ide shell out... that realistic, what would u say its worth?

I'd say 16k is a fair price for that car assuming it's a good base as you say. Considering a good solid malibu that needs everything is bringing over 5k, this one would save you a little money if you're after a fun driver.

16K is way too much for that Chevelle. It appears to me that it has had a hard life, and the pictures are showing the best sides of it. There are a lot of better Chevelles out there in the 16K range, because this one is not worth more 8-9K,10K(?) if it is in much better shape than what I see...Bob

thanks ALLOT guys.... yea i def agree his asking price of 19888 is way high. im actually attempting to do a flat trade on it... for what i plan to do to the car and use it for its a solid platform (brakes suspension, wheels, etc, and drive her daily) ive found out she was a toy for the prior owner for 15 years he built it and got bored with it. the car ended up at its current home via a multi car trade.

i wish the 66 had disc brakes already and some suspension upgrades with 17's... but shes close... the red one in the classifieds also caught my eye and is real close as well... my goal is to get a 66 bye friday (turning 30, woot) but if i cant trade for one then itll be spring time im suspecting... :\ but 1005 on getting a 66 tho, mom used to have a 68 ss for years was 2nd owner... so kinda a chevelle family.. lol :)

(thanks for the welcome, just found the forum seems to be a gold mine of intel :] )

ive had my eye out for a small block 66 thats charcole for a while now, this one poped up in my home state why im trying to jump on it... you guys know anyone looking to trade a 66 for something newer??

im attempting to trade a 2003 civic lx coupe with about 19k$ into it and a 1998 s10 with 25k into it, im orig owner on both and both are amazing shape, clean titles, no rust, etc....

Bryan, First off,I am no expert, just giving an opinion. This dealer wants a lot of money for a Malibu Sport Coupe with half hearted SS badging. To me, the car looks like it was set-up to run the crap out of it. It is hard to tell from the different angles and distances that the pictures were taken from exactly whats going on. You can be certain that they are the best ones that the dealer has posted. What kind of shape are the engine, trans, rear, brakes, and electrical systems in? It is a buyers market, and I felt 16K was too much for that Chevelle. Again, I am no expert, and this is just my opinion...Bob

Worth a lot less than it will cost to duplicate. Figure $4-5K for builder IF you can find one, then replace all the rot/rear trunk panel and lower quarter panels and patch doors floor trunk and fenders ($2K) the do all body work and paint ($$$ 5K easily) rechrome bumpers , reupholster the car, and all the mechanical repairs ($4K) ... new wiring...etc etc it gets really expensive to build one.

Buy this one for 12.5K max, drive it and enjoy it...

Points well taken Bob.I did not mean to throw you up there thinking you were an expert,I just thought I was missing something that you saw thats all.To the OP I would think 15000 would not be out of line but again as others have said pictures do not do a car justice.Good luck with the chevelle.

I would say 10ish tops.
Nothing wrong with proper working drum brakes ,upgrade to a dual master if you like.
I myself would put on some factory rallys ['67] or even later style and some radial redlines and clean/fix up the minor stuff.
Nice color!

thanks again guys... yea the color is my 1st color choice, but paint is easy enough to change.

well are there any 66's out there that any of you would recommend in the 12k-19k price range? (shes eventually gonna get the pro touring treatment so a 136 car is ideal, feel screwy molesting a 138 that much)

Thats assuming all the work put into this one is quality... Being a dealer (sorry, I just don't trust then), I imagine there might be alot of cheap/quick detailing just to make it look nice for a sale...

While its probably more expensive to build one from the ground up, at least you know whats there, whats hidden, whats been "rigged" and whats been fixed correctly...

IMO, IF you can't find exactly what you want, then look for a Project that has part of what you want (maybe needing paint, but having the brakes/suspension you want), etc... Yeah, this is the color you want, but you are also paying for alot of fancy stuff you might not use...

Its hard, but you must be patient, and usually have cash... Or expect minimal for your trades...
