Try the old school trick of putting the tip of a big screwdriver against the valve cover (over each cylinder), while putting your ear up to the handle. If you have a tick or knock, the sound will be transmitted through the screwdriver, and it will help you pinpoint where the problem is.

Really hard to hear. Just had a friend text me a video with a noisy sb. It changed sound of in gear vs neutral/park. I told him to check the flexplate, it was cracked around the crank.
