Just put a 650 Holley 650 DP on my SBC. Its a 4777 model. I took off the manuel choke and put on a electric choke. Its model number 224.

Here is the problem. I have it adjusted so that it will idle around 2000 when fired up. If I let it idle until it is fully warm its OK, but if I rev the motor the engine will idle down and sometimes shut off. It simply will not lower the rpm.

After driving it and shutting it off and let if sit for awhile,go about businesss and what not. I then will refire it. If I have to rev the motor while idling, the rev will reset the choke and the fast idle returns.

Anybody have tips on what to do here? What am I missing?

have you got electricity to it? the wire should have power in it any time the ignition is on.

2000 is really excessive, can you bring it down to 1300 or so? Do you have the choke adjusted so the mark on the black cap is in the middle of the marks on the choke housing? That would be a problem, IMO. I've worked with a lot of the chokes and I always end up setting them clear off the scale on the lean side. The little heating element in the cap is just not strong enough. Holleys have been like this since I started working with them back in the early 70's.

I believe I have electricity to it. I make sure.

Yeah, I agree that is to much.

The choke is set right on that notch in the middle.

The screw on the fast idle cam does not seem as easy to work as that on that come on the vacuum secondary carbs.
