what goes on the front fender as far emblems. I have the flags to put on and I see cars with them towards the front and others with them on the rear of fender by the door, also I need to find out the location to put the
327 emblem.
Thanks, Mark
Greetings, Mark and welcome to TC. Your specific question might get a quicker response if posted in the proper forum, maybe body shop in this case. All V8 emblem flags go in front of the wheel well; the rear by the door is incorrect for any V8 emblem in 1965.
A factory Assembly Instruction Manual will help with the physical location if you're willing to do a little math and measuring. Front emblem placement is based on two '0' reference lines found in the sheet metal checking section (UPC 11-13).
For example, the 0 vertical line (to measure a horizontal distance) is set at 37.64 inches rearward of the centerline of the radiator support. The o horizontal line (to measure a vertical distance) is set a 3.24 inches below the rear of the front fender. You'd really have to see the drawings with measurements to get a feel of their meaning.
I would suggest getting a copy of one to help you with other things as well. Quite a lot of information concerning the final assembly is convered, but there's nothing about what Fisher Body did from the firewall back such as emblem placements on the rear quarters, rear bright trim, taillamps, etc. They are on eBay all the time for about $25 shipped and are a must have IMO. I have a filtered link page to eBay assembly manuals at
http://chevellestuff.net/manuals/assembly.htm, if you don't see a 1965 specific one on the page, click the 'view all xxx items' link. There's also a link to Ground Up on the same page and they sell them as well for $19.95 plus shipping - whatever that costs.
