This is my '65 300 deluxe. It is my first restoration and I was just fishing for some comments. Any information would be helpful. I have replaced or patched the ds outer & inner wheelhouse and dropoff, the trunk floor and bracing (minus the passenger side body mount), rear cross brace, floor with brace and body mounts over the rear axle, and the body lip that conforms to the rear bumper. I still have some finish grinding to do on the welds but couldn't resist showing it off.
Please feel free to give both good and "needs some work" comments. I want to do this as correctly as possible. Thanks for the help this site is awesome.

This is what I had to start out with. What a shame. :noway:

Looks good to me!

I had a license plate pop-riveted to the floor of a '68 I used to have. Then bondo'ed over to patch a rust hole. Your old trunk looks better than that was. :)

I too am a rookie doing a 65 chevelle 2 door hardtop. I think it looks great! Any chance you kept a template of the rear filler panel. I can't believe they don't reproduce this piece yet...oh well it gives us rookie metal fabricators a piece to make. I think you may have an extra notch in there, but not 100% sure, but looks good., I like the detail underneath.

I too need to do the floor pans, I am working on window channels, and quarter panel patching.

Are you doing all that by yourself? Nice work ! Way out of my skills on the panel replacing.
Good to see a 65 being saved!

Thanks everyone for the great comments. Everyone else's cars are looking great also. This website has been like gold for me since when I started I didn't know the first thing about car restoration or even welding for that matter.
There were alot of doubters when this first started. It is good to here that things are looking good from someone other than myself. Thanks again.

Looks good so far. Having been there with my 65 Elky, it is like cutting down 1 tree at a time till the wood lot is gone. Took me 6 years - a couple of hours at a time amd kept the wife happy too. I hadn't ever gotten that deep into body work before and learned by asking and doing. Not that I am ready to do another, but it would be 1000% easier the next time - and I am sure you would find the same. There is a lot of satisfaction to me in doing it all myself - even if it isn't perfect. Keep on keepin on. Looking great.

Do you still have money left in your pocket?
Do you have any patience left?
Do you question why the heck you even started this?
If you answered yes to these you are doing what you should to get it done.
Seriously that is more work then many can and would tackle and your doing great. :)
