Looking for information on speaker locations for the rear cargo area. The car did not have a radio and I will be adding a period correct radio with a hidden amp and reasonable speakers, nothing to wild, for cruising in the spring. Thanks for your input 65Rod

what i did years ago in my chevelle is i had some speakers in boxes that i could sit on the back seat.i ran wires back under the back seat and put rca connectors on the ends.so i could put em in and take em out as needed.you could mount the connectors flush in the side panels.

Lots of wireless options too, unless you're going for a factory look? Might even find those type speaker wireless, there's a few places that take old factory car radios and make them Bluetooth stereo

Whatever you do, don't cut holes in those rear side panels. They are rare, unique to the 2-door wagons. Speakers in boxes. I haven't done any in mine yet, but my thought was to build some tasteful boxes to put in the cargo area behind the rear seat and perhaps put something like velcro on the bottom to help keep them in place.

Thanks Rich, it did cross my mind but I decided that it is either speaker boxes or in the second seat panel below the slider. There is a factory opening that may be a good place. I would just need to alter the upholstery panel for the speaker cover. 65Rod(y)

If you're not an audiophile and there's not stock cut outs for front/rear speakers and you only occasionally drive your car then you can get aftermarket radio's that has blue tooth and put a blue tooth speaker in the back seat. Lot's of guys run this setup with the convertible. Run from your phone as well.

I used Bose mini speekers in an El Camino. Mounted them behind the seats and no one ever saw them.
They are small, provide good sound quality and can take the amperage output of reasonable amps.
