Looks like a great project if you were interested in a sedan delivery and local to where it is listed. The underside would need to be thoroughly inspected in person. A bit of a shame about the delivery conversion as I think it lowers it's appeal with out a rear seat with a side view. Still it is very rare in any condition.

Never was able confirm it. But I have heard/read they made a few deliveries for the military.
Pretty sure it said 64 only.
Any truth to that?
Was that home made or was it done by a dealer? I would love to have a camper shell on my elcamino like that top.

From the description, it started life as a two door wagon, and someone welded panels where the rear windows go. What a shame....

It looks like its in pretty good shape, maybe a good fabricator can undo all that and bring her back.

I'd have to at a minimum cut that panel out and put 1 piece of glass in there. Not OEM but better than that.

I would primer it with purple or dark blue primer.

Put on a set of first or third generation Rally wheels in 15 x 7 with a 4.25 back spac. With four 225/70r15 Mastercraft Advenger GT tires.

I would put the front end the stock height with a set of 2" lowering springs with bags inside the springs in the rear.

Keep the big block and put a Muncie three speed transmission in it with a three on the tree column shift.

Black bench seat with full power. No rear seat but carpet the rear area.

This car has so many options!!
The rear slider windows are one of the coolest features of the 2-door wagons.

Here is a similar one that someone saw through to the end. Pics are from it being displayed at Summit Racing in Ohio. This one is a 65 ElCo.

But I agree those steel panels ruined this wagon and turns it into a dumb El Camino look alike

The way the subject Sedan Delivery conversion was don is more true to the way the factory would have done it. Look at the mid 50s and up. The last Sedan Delivery models were produced in '60 and dropped.
turns it into a dumb El Camino
Ok, Ok ..... I didn't think I'd see those words on this forum, (maybe on the Vintage Mustang forum I'm also a part of).

If you say it again, I'll consider them fightin words:cool:

FWIW.....I happen to be an El Camino owner and still love those early sedan deliveries from my Jr. Stock days......if done right this might be a real eye catcher.
I wonder what's up with the 68 or 69 Chevelle peaking out way back in the corner?

There are a half dozen or more classic vehicles there.
