Well I think you’re better off going with a 540. Just going off my background. A 632 is built on a tall deck block and incurs installation issues. A 540 is a short(stock) deck block and you can get away with the 4.25 stroke of a 540 with street/strip oil pans below 6-6200 rpm. Otherwise windage becomes a problem and oil pressure falls off. A 632 should have a good pan and a stock chassis doesn’t allow this.

If you want low deck and increase the cubic inches, you could go for a 565. Its a 540 with bigger bores. Unshrouds the valves too and helps breathing..

There are indeed 615 CUI BBCs with 9.8 low deck blocks. Shafiroff makes drag race and pump gas versions of those and it appears they find their customers..

He is actually a good adress for a good "crate" engine, a tad more towards the "premium" engine builder than Blueprint, who also make good engines, more value orientated.

So sources for good engines depend on your budget..

Me personally i would let me build a custom one from Mark Jones (vortecpro) - as i did.
He has very reasonable prices too, but its more about the trouble-freeness for me.
The likelyness to be dissapointed from an engine he build is as minimal as it can be..

I think there are lot of other guys here who can give you more help..

What Ray and Tom said. They even sell short deck 565. I would look at Shafiroff engines in New York to get an idea with what you are dealing with all the poo-poo platter stuff and cost ideas you got to choose from. The 632 there is a lot of stuff you need to do that can make things complicated and expensive.

The 632 UltraStreet is a tall deck with 945HP.. If I get a tall deck, shouldn't I go with the 632 twisted which has 1050 HP?
Sure - it all depends on how big your wallet is. :)

I was just pointing out their lowest dollar big cube engines and made sure to answer your original question about a 632 - you can always spend more to get more.

You are right. That is a savings of $3,000. I want a big motor with high performance because I like the way it sounds.

The way a Engine sounds on the Street is almost all dependent on the Exhaust System you attach to it

I have a 454/468 ci with 550 HP in my 67 and it is a Hand Full on the Street
with the Biggest Stickyest Tires I can get inside the Rear Stock Wheel Wells
Traction on the Street is Limited to how hard Or not so Hard I Push it
At the Track a different Story

If you go 632 or similar this is just the beginning. You also need a transmission, rear end and suspension that can handle this level of torque. Likely should upgrade brakes too.

This will get expensive, especially if you are paying someone else to do all the work. Before you commit, add all costs up.
