wondering out loud about 6.0 ls builds, i have a few 6.0 in the shop and working on one for a 80 malibu mostly bracket car

looking at ported heads. vs new heads and flow numbers.
TEA has some great flow numbers on 243 heads and i have a set headed that way, but, looking thru builds online vs bbc builds, thinking about 310 cfm at .600 lift numbers in an ls, dont see many builds that make 2 hp per cfm, wondering were the limitiing factor is, intake manifolds, injectors? should a 6800-7000 rpm 6.0 ls make 620 flywheel hp with those flow numbers?

how would vortec pro build a fuelinjected 6.0ls without a power adder,,,,,,,

Intake manifold
4500 intake would be best for 700+hp
6.0 364ci
The bores are 4 inches so any good head would be shrouded. (The TEA 243 wouldn’t though it’s a good head probably top 5 available for a 6.0.)
Open the bores up to 4.03 run 11:1+ compression. Have a cam spec’d for your build, run a solid or a low lash lifter, proper pushrods.
and that 370ci will put out that kind of hp 580-620. Step up to a 4 inch stroker crank and longer rods and proper pistons and that LS really comes alive 620-740 hp NA is easily doable. Once you get that much na the best plastic intakes run out of air.

Your goal would put you at about 500rwhph depending on trans/converter setup. If keeping stock stroke you will need to rev it out to get the power. If going stroker you can go more mild on the induction setup and make the same power at a lower rpm.

Stock Stroke
PRC 260cc LS3 heads
11.25:1 comp
Stage 4 or 5 LS3 cam
LS3 Holley high ram
Nick williams 102 or 105throttle body

Stoker kit to 408
PRC 260cc LS heads
11.25 comp
Stage 4 LS3 cam
Stock Ls3 intake
Stock LS3 throttle body

Here’s the heads:

Here’s an LQ9 stroker setup making 620hp.

That setup, depending on the cam....AND how fast you spin the engine will put down around ~500 +/-100 NA around 6500rpm. Which is super respectable for a normally aspirated set up. If you want any hotter of an engine you are looking at a boosted application.

I've squeezed 480hp/420tq NA and 780hp/730tq boosted (77mm PTE) out of the small 4.8L vortec engine.

Any engine will take boost and the 6.0 will make 1k hp boosted but at that level you are really moving into the realm of "whats going to break next" and your reliability goes downhill.

What’s the specs or part number of the cam?
what valve train do you plan on using?
The TBSS will not flow enough air NA at the 6500+ rpm’s. I’d look into a fast lsxr 102 with short runners or the medium lengths or at least a short runner intake. depending on your rpm’s at the end of the track. By the looks of it your trying for very low 10 in the 1/4 140+ trap speed? What is the gear ratios and tire size?

1:1 second gear 7500+ rpm crossing the line That’s gonna need a serious valvetrain, honestly LS1Tech might have some better suggestions. Brian Tooley Racing comes to mind they do this stuff everyday.
There’s a guy on ls1 tech that used that cam in a 6.0 and ended up with 383 rwhp. That would be disappointing. I’d get a cam spec’d for exactly what you are doing.

You may want to have Jones Cams spec out a cam. They'll look at your specifics and match the cam to the head flow, exhaust flow, engine size etc. You fill out a form online and they turn it around pretty quickly.

I think with that cam and rpm you will be about 100 hp short.

Im running stock L92 heads with a set of .660 double springs and just upgraded to LS3 hollow intake valves.

Mine has been way off on power. My mistake was using a Summit stage 3 cam with the summit brand lifters and their recommended .660 spring kit that was 425psi...

Now I switched to a 385 psi double spring set, caddy race lifters and the hollow intake valves. Hoping that does the trick.

With the old lifters, stock valves and duoble springs I shifted at 7200. Gone as high as 7500 with no issues. With good springs and pushrods they can go some high rpms.

I'll comment on this since I'm balls deep in this LS thing with my Mustang. Have you considered going right to a 6.2 like I did? Once you get into pistons/boring, head work etc. the 6.2 engine seems kinda cheap and can make big power with just a cam swap. They already come with a TBSS style intake, rec port heads and compression. Just upgrade cam and injectors and you will be over 550hp w/o even trying.
