I get the good parts mindset. Brule' at Westech told me when I dyno'd to try not to rev it north of 7500 with the stainless valves.

These valves are 2.34", probably pushing it on the 1/4 mile runs but they go a lot of runs.

Jon,

If the rods have the standard Ultra Rod H11 (others call them L19) rod bolts, I would be changing them on a 7600-7700 RPM 582 BBC after 350 passes.

If they are the upgraded CA625 or MP3.5 rod bolts....carry on about your business

Good luck on getting back together! Going back on the Dyno?

These are not the L19 bolts, I remember asking that when we got them in 2015.

I imagine it will go on the dyno for part of a day. Beats finding a problem after spending two days putting it back in the car.

Someone local to me has a dart 20 degree 582. He shifts it at 8400 rpm. It runs a half second faster in his car then a motor similar to what I have. Thinking just those style heads on a good shortblock with a 55mm cam. Single plane and a big dominater. The problem is they to me need more cubic inches then 582 to work well without crazy rpm. 598 ci would use them better but have other issues to worry about.

Not really. 582, SR 20, sv565, 14.1, 1250 112 Sunoco, 1.8 glide, 4.30, 16x33, Comp cam proprietary but less than .810 lift, PAC 1224, weighs 2450 with driver, 4.92 1/8 mile, [email protected] 178 1/4 mile at Bowling Green Ky. Shifting at 7400.

Ended up needing an intake valve and an exhaust valve on the same cylinder. Cut valves and seat, put new 1324 PAC springs on it and new Morel Ultra Pro lifters in it. Ran it on the dyno today. 5500 to 7200 rpm window it was 792.01 lb/ft. average torque which is about 9 f/lbs. down from 2015 average of 801.10 ft./lbs.

Horsepower was 954.45 average from 5500 to 7200 rpm. This was down 11 hp from 965.68 average in June of 2015.
Peak HP suffered the most being off 16 hp at 7200 rpm peak.

Engine has 350 passes on the it so I am ok with being down less then 2% for loss of ring seal.

Still cleared 1000 horsepower peak number. Still ran fine at 7600 rpm.

My old builder told me that if you cringe when it hits 7500, you bought the wrong parts.
Glad to see somebody that lives by that.
Really glad to see you suffered minimal damage on what could have been a total catastrophe and that it's back together and making good power.

I wouldn't worry about it either Jon, its running. Even the HP difference is not even noticeable in ET. That is like a weather change. Dial in numbers are changeable for that reason!!!!

Those heads are very rare....they kind of turn my stomach too. :crying:

I think there are more of them around then you think. I contacted him again recently because I have one more shortblock in pieces and he told me those are the heads he would use. Has a couple more tweaks since our pairs were made.

Still an impressive combo Jon.
