I was wondering if anyone has actually tried installing a 4spd console onto a trans hump designed for non console cars on a 70 chevelle. the reason i ask is i was told when getting my 4spd hump installed that either will work with console so now the non console hump is all installed and finished underneath has been completely restored blasted, painted and seam sealed now that im reading on here it seems this doesnt work and was wondering how hard it would be to install the proper hump now that everything is painted?

There's a good reason for the different humps. The non-console hump is a lot wider on top, and that prevents the console from sitting down on the floor properly. The console hump is long and narrow, so it fits up inside the console base nicely.

So is it possible to change this to the proper hump without ruining my freshly painted floor

I guess it depends on what you mean by ruining the floor. The welds have to be drilled out, or ground down so the hump can be removed. Then the new hump would be welded in. That will burn a paint a bit, but it shouldn't be a problem redoing the seam sealer, and repainting.

Sorry to hear about your trouble Patrick.I did a search about this too and yes there are two humps.You can google both those images.I was told by Keisler I could rivit the new hump in when I get my new RS 600.This hump isn't very big not much welding would be involved.To say you ruin a floor to put it in riviting or welding in would be over kill.I know I saw pics when I looked, take a look you'll see it isn't a big job if you can spot weld.I Looked at page two here.http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&g...Chevelle+with+console&spell=1&biw=779&bih=436
