The Thing I see is, Who are these people are they for real, do they put out a good product, are all the clearances exact. Hard to trust theses days. Now if it was from Mike Lewis are some of the other Builders on this Forum, I'd feel better if it was me looking to buy...Which I'm really thinking about

I have $38 to $4,000 in my complete 9.8 to 1 CR., homemade 496 and that includes new Merlin oval heads, a new Strip Dom intake and headers.

And all forged and balanced rotating assembly. ROSS pistons and a good old CC 282S solid cam...

So you decide??

I note he is not selling alot of engines according to the feedback I read. The shipping may be a killer too. I did see a lot of feedback comments about the parts shipped were not the ones pictured too.

They are obviously using the cheapest parts you can buy with Cat rods, and they didn't mention the brand of the crank. Probe pistons may be ok, but they are low buck also. Statements like the crankshaft is the "best of the best" is just BS. I can guarantee you it is not a Callies or Lunati, which are some of the best out there. Impressive looking CNC machine though. I would want some references before I bought from a shop I knew nothing about. The fact they are describing the parts as if they are the best out there, when anyone who knows anything knows they are budget parts is just a little scary.

Bottom line is - he's in Ca. and you are in Ind. If there is a problem, you are dealing long distance, shipping costs and hassle...you can see where this is going. You can come close to that buildup with better parts and save the shipping if you deal locally. Find a reputable shop and talk to them about what you want. They can offer advice that is woth $$$. AND - you deal face to face with someone who wants your good word of mouth advertising. I think it is always a good practice to deal with hte local guys when possible.

I was not planning on purchasing this item, I was just plainly asking if it was a good deal or not that incase anyone wanted to here, they could jump on it. Sorry about that. LoL looks like I'll have to try harder next time.

This is called ebay shilling. Usually when people do this we end up finding out they're really the seller, looking for a way to use our site to build traffic and interest in their own ebay sales.

However, I see that you joined in '03 and have a few hundred posts to your credit. Usually the real shills it's their first post here.

Bottom line: be aware this doesn't look good. Sorry if you're legit, but we get a lot of this these days.

What's a shame is this engine shop has had this motor (or similiar) listed repeatedly for some time. If his ad said Scat rods & crank, I doubt anyone would question it. I have never seen a comparison of Cat & Scat so for all we know these may very well come from the same Chinese production plant. Not to open the endless, often beat up China supply chain dilemna, but I would bet most really have no clue ho wmuch dependence we have on cheap CHinese labor. THis is a complete shortblock for basically the price of a rotating assembly. Personally, if I was in the market, I would consider it. Bring it home, disassemble and check all clearances - that's what I do with any motor or shortblock anyway. If it really bothers you, throw a different set of rods in there.

I learned my leason w/dealing people that live far away...

When I had my 396 rebuild and it spun rod bearings in 120 miles, I had to take it out and drive about 50 miles to the builder, and I was ****ed about that. I couldn't imagine strapping it to a pallet and paying at least a couple hundred bucks to ship it one way. And waht if there is a problem again? Take it out, ship....

I think these "online builders" love selling motors. They know you probably won't go through the trouble and expense of shipping a motor back and forth.

Bottom line...go local if you know whats good for you.
