Hey guys. My engine specs are in my sig. I haven't fired the motor yet I'm just trying to get some things ready for when I do. I know that its not possible to really dial in the carb without running it but was just wondering if I could get a could starting point from expeeiences. Carb is a holley 850dp has down leg boosters and screw in air bleeds so I can easily change those as well. I'm also trying to recurve the dist. Its a stock gm with accel coil all new cap and rotors any advice on which springs and weights. Adj vac adv? Thanks guys.

For the carb, put it back to Holley spec. Jets, power valves, etc. if the carb is correct for the application (sounds like it is) then it should only take a slight variance from box-stock to work well. For the dizzy, again I would start with stock components to get it running. Once running you can dial in a better advance curve once you can put a timing light on it.

I use the same carb except I changed the main body to a 1050 proformed main body with down leg boosters.. 86frt 92rear power valves are 3.5 fr and rear..The 850 comes with 6.5's .. Of which I may put back in.. Air bleeds are box stock preform quick fuel.I would go box stock first, it should be enough to get you in the ball park of tuning.. Also I run a 5-7 inch vacume canister for the vac adv.. It gives 15-16 degrees of adv at Idleand during high vacume cruise..
out of the box or Dave's recommendation would be just fine in my experience w/this carb.
find out how much advance it currently has and what rpms it stops advancing and post back.
I'm running a 496 w/ Canfield 310's, RPM Airgap, factory spec LS6 cam (good deal smaller than yours) 850DP. Stock set up was almost perfect. Just had to swap in the orange pump cam, but I think that has more to do with my 4.11's. So, I'm running 80's front and back with .031 shooters front and back. I imagine you'll need more jet in the back than I'm using.
