Those SCAT 9000 cranks and a few other brands are the greatest thing since sliced bread. If a guy is going to to build a fresh 454 and needs to replace the bottom end, its pretty much the same price going with the 4.25 crank. Almost like getting a free 42 CID

Is the only difference between a 468 and a 496 the 4 inch stroke instead of a 4.25 inch stroke?

yes and no!
Id just point out that some 496 bbc strokers built from 427-and-454 engines use 4.25" stroke cranks as previously stated but they use the slightly longer 6.385" connecting rods, in place of the original 6.135" connecting rods , because stock rods won,t clear the counter weights and piston skirts and in some cases INTERNALLY balanced crank assemblies

If I will be mainly driving on the street with only minor track use and I could get 600hp out of a 468, then is there really a need to go with the 496 instead over the 468?
Think it over hard. It is easy HP and TQ.

not to nitpick,but 496-468 is 28.
You were the only one to catch that.:D
I have been watching that show Brain Games. Cool show.
Fathom70SS, absolutely go with the 4.25 stroke. The stroked 454 is totally proven and reliable.

Yeaa yeayea Yeaaaaaa :beers::yes::hurray: It's like getting HoneyBunny Bigger Boobies for the same price as Smaller Ones, a never ending return on your investment that you will always notice when you squeeze the Back BooBies on the Dbl Pmpr..
