James, I don't know for sure, but it is probably based on a truck engine and probably has peanut port heads. If it is a truck engine, that probably only means that it has 7.5 or 8.0 to one compression. Hope this helps.

By truck do you mean tall deck? It's not a tall deck. The easiest way to tell is to look at the front of the motor it will have a 1/8in oil tap right in front of the intake manifold. If it a std height block like it should be the only thing wrong are the heads and they are no problem to change.

The only thing you need to watch out for is a Tall deck block. Those were installed in medium and heavy duty trucks and are only 366 or 427 CI, I'm talking C-60 or bigger type trucks. The motor home should have a short deck motor. You need to get the block casting # found on the pass side shelf behind the heads, if you can pull a valve cover off, then you can ID the head casting#, 75 should be large oval ports as the peanuts did not come on till 76 model year. Probably a good score, but get those#'s and post em here someone will decode them for ya

Thanks guys! I should have said I didn't want a tall block. I'll do whatever it takes to build up a standard block. I'm going to check it out Saturday if things fall in place. The deal is an eng/trans for $650 but its still in the motor home. Mileage is said to be 140,000 and was running when parked. May be some potential there.
