Hey guys, my comp cam kit came with new springs and I wasn't sure what to do with the metal collars/sleeves around the stock springs? Do I need to reinstall these sleeves over the new springs?

Dump them and run the bare springs and retainers, but you may need to shim the new ones to get the ideal rate for your cam setup..

Thanks!
Any idea what purpose they serve?

GM does stuff like that on sbc and bbc and the only reason is to keep excessive oil away from the valve guide.
To keep oil consumption down...
Most use a good valve guide seal to do the same thing ..
I like my valve springs to see more oil flow on them to keep them running slightly cooler.
