I paid $200 for a no-frills shortblock.......STD 454....
Nodular Crank, cast pistons, 2-bolt block all ok ....so it'll be a freshen-up and go with left-overs from my garage.....

Is this $800 shortblock Fresh, a running low-mile take-out, a rebuilder/core?
What proof does the seller have?

It could be worth well over $800 with the right stuff in it....so ya gotta find out what's in there....
here is the Link I guess:

steel crank....
I advise you to call and ask about the pistons etc...

# 289 casting blcok
I think the 289 is a '72 year block rated at 265 HP. If it has the rotating assembly, $ 800 may be about the highest you should go. This may make a good core for something bigger. As far as fuel, well that's up to what you build and how heavy your right foot gets......happy motoring.
