it will fit, but you will need lemon headers, distributor with a adjustable collar, and may need a cowl hood, are you planning on building this 427 tall deck? if your planning on building a BBC just buy yourself a 454 more cubes and parts are a lot cheaperwill a 427 tall deck fit in my 72 Chevelle,i am not looking for a race car, but a nice sounding car, that has a little pep! :hurray:
Oh it will fit. if you don't mind 4 pound pistons, probable header clearance issues, ans a tall deck dizzy and intake. Cool thing is they take stock BBC timing stuff, cams, and cylinder heads. I bought a 366 TDBBC just to get the 786s off of it for $50 off a scrap guy. Still have the short block and one day I am going to build it for two goals. Low end torque, and 36 pounds of turbo boost.will a 427 tall deck fit in my 72 Chevelle,i am not looking for a race car, but a nice sounding car, that has a little pep! :hurray:
It's the same thickness as a standard deck.QUESTION: Is the deck thicker by .4 inches or is the deck moved up by .4 and keeps the same thickness as standard blocks??
There used to be a huge truck salvage yard in East Houston called Lewis Truck Salvage. Many years ago, tall deck 427s were a very common drag boat engine because they made good long stroke, big cube engines. But I think their popularity has faded away now. In a boat, there were no clearance issues.
