I have been looking at this line of camshafts and was wondering what kind of 1/4mile times have been achieved and which of the cams was used.

454 .060 over
10:1 comp
oval port closed chamber big valves
Pro systems 1000hp carb
MSD digital 6
1 3/4 headers

torque converter waiting on cam selection

9inch, 4.11 gears, detroit locker

I am not worried about how it idles, or the amount of vaccum it produces.

Brian,

Here is what Harold stated to me when he guided me to his 402A7Lun for my new 496 build:

"The 402A7LUN is what I recommend for most street BBCs, and I have dynoed with as low as 9.2 CR---468 cid, 561 BHP @ 6400. The 402A6LUN is the same cam, ground on a 107 LSA, and the original. It is a real handful on the street, the 402A7 is much better driving in traffic, as well as liking a 3000 SS converter. One of Team Chevelle's members, Chris_69_SS, has a 10.25:1 468 with the 402A7 that dynoed around 605 BHP, and he has written about it on the board.
Your 496 will give you a real thrill. Make sure you have a good fuel pump and 1/2" fuel line from the tank to the carb---That thing will make enough mid-range torque to drain the float bowls by high-rpm...."

Hope this helps somewhat.

My 288/296 F10 is in my 461 (not 468) and has gone 11.30 @ 121.

Your combo should be close to mine, dpending on head work and stall / traction.

p.s. I have 2" headers not the 1 3/4 you have....some say mine are too big, some say just right....whatcha gonna do?

Those are some pretty good times in my books chris. The heads are stock except the bigger valves, i am planning on doing a pocket port on em pretty soon. What kind of idle rpm, and vaccum are you doing with that cam, and are you running the 6 or the 7? Also some info on the rest of your drivetrain would be helpful.

Thanks Brian

I like idle in gear at 1,000 rpm. In gear it drops to 800-750 ish.....been a few months since I drove it...

Not sure what the vacuum is at idle. I think I remember it being 5-6 inHg. At any rate I swapped the 6.5PV and run 3.5ès FR & Rear. Much better.

Thanks,

Chris

you might want to be concerned if you get a hard pedal at 115-120 mph. hopefully chris will reply. mike
I do not have any braking problems. A little mushy in stop & go sometimes but letès face it, this isnèt a honda civic so it does not bother me and I am always aware of how my car reacts etc.

at the top end of the track it is not a problem at all.... I do vae PB & front disks as an fyi.
