Hello, I am in the process of a ground up restoration of a 1970 chevelle with a 402. I was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas on how I can get this car into the 10's in the 1/4 mile. Please, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected], or IM me at Bryan454BB if you have aol. Thanks a lot.

Ya Bryan, take the 402 out and put in a 540. Really, asking a 402 to be in the 10's is a tall order. I run a highly modified 402 in a '72 that weighs about 4000lbs with me in it, and can bearly turn mid 12's @112mph. I'm sure if I ran a 300 hp bottle I'd be there, however, I'm from the old school and adhere to real HP.

It is gonna be hard to hit 10s and keep it a tru daily driver, Now on the other hand... You can go for the full tub out option get there. Please don't do this to a nice body though!

Other than that you are gonna need something that is not normally asperated. i.e blower, nitrous, supercharger etc.

Also be prepaired to put in a 5 point cage, most places won't let you run 10s without it!

I am building my 402 to get me twelves in the 1/4... on street tires. So I may need Nitrous on down the road, but not to much. I think it's cheating too. BUT you know what they say, "If you aint cheatin', you aint tryin' hard enough" Check the Team Chevelle sight that shows "Combos that work", then email a few guys that have hopped up 402s
