I'd cover the valley up a little better ;) I really think I'd wrap it with movers wrap, almost looks like shrink wrap, comes on rolls from Uhaul store

😀 Engine is sealed with the valley cover. It had the puller just to set it down on the ground. Is foamed in and air conditioned. I do put a cover over it just cam seal the bag anymore because of the new stand.

If I ever build another V8 it'll probably be an LS, one hell of a platform to start off with...Don't get me wrong though I still love my BBC ;)

I wouldn’t mind a big block myself. The original small block was cracked in cylinders 5,7. I purchased the car in January 2009. It had been in a field in West Texas since 1973 and had 26k miles on it. I made the decision to go LS due to availability, people where hoarding big blocks. Same guys who want to see the bb in the muscle cars would not sell them to people who are actually going to use one. The current engine/transmission is a 5.3 and 4l60e (I originally wanted a t56). I did have to get the transmission rebuilt and beefed up after 1500 miles. Now it runs great but I wanted more power and a manual so a tkx is going in with this 398.

I wanted a manual trans in my 68 but the car was for my wife to be able to drive too and she never drove a stick  so I went with a T-400, the 3200 stall conv. makes it a little more fun though, looking back I should've bought a beater truck with a stick and taught her...S10 ext cab with an LS Hum

Started removing the front end for the transplant. Luckily my son has a few more days before school starts. Going to hide the wire mess this time lol.

Jason when do you think you'll have the new engine installed? and do you have all the needed parts for the swap? I forgot to put a 1/4" plug in where the dyno oil pres. gauge line was when we put the new engine in my car and oil shot all over the drv side inner fender and frame

I’ll have to measure the drive shaft. Most likely I’ll have to order a new one. All parts, sensors will transfer from the 5.3 to the 398. I believe I have all the other parts needed. The clutch and brake pedal I have a stock one a McLeod and a AFCO so hopefully I’ll be able one of the 3 to work properly. The McLeod brackets with the stock one looks like it could work. Console parts I ordered months ago so I would have them.
I’m going to try to get it done before the end of September.

I know I am not an LS fan but this is a great build and I like that you used those smaller heads to make better power and I think your car will be stronger on the street with them. I always told my friends that if I were to buy a LS3 5th gen Camaro the first thing I would do is get rid of those big heads, not needed on a 364 ci. in. engine, just too big IMO. Will be waiting to see how your car goes when done, great job so far.

Nearly done with the removal need to remove drive shaft, trans and motor mount bolts. Should have it pulled later today. This weekend I need to get the front seat console and front carpet section out. Then I’ll start installing the clutch pedal, brackets, reservoir and moving the wires.

Took it out for a drive today about 30 miles. Engine fired right up and ran great. TKX was super nice also. Set the rev limit at 5800 for break in.
ran it up to 5500 rpm in second gear at about half throttle once.Tons of power/torque.

Have you gotten it to the dyno yet? I'm curious what the numbers are after all of the early comments.
