hi i'm about to start rebuilding my 396 i spun a conrod bearings in .
i have ported 396429 heads with a high rise single plane manifold
a set of L2242NF PISTONS THAT HAVE A -38.30 DOME
forged scat rods the old ones were to far out of round hence the spun bearings
the cam is a XE284H-10 hydraulic
ADV DUR 284 296
.50 240 296
val lift 574 578
i'm after a good crank the old one is at .003 so it's out the door
it's followed up by a th700r tricked out with a 3000 converter
9inch with 5.11 gears and a full spool

What do you guys think

A friend of mine ran that cam on the dyno in a 427 with 2.190/1.880 valves, he had to have 400 open spring pressure to control that lobe, something to consider.

hey john
i'm only running this car at the track. i wanted lower gear and was only going to run it on a 1/8th mile but if i use the 5.11's i can still take it down the 1/4 mile . not sure if i will ever add some sort of extra power to the motor . like every body you soon want more power or just want a better look .
