Hello folks, Ive purchaced a 66 396 and the flex plate was lost over the years.Does the flex plate have to match the balancer?WHAT TO DO? Thanks in advance for your help. Sandy

find one for a 350.. they are the same.

Just remember, a 396 is an internally balanced engine. Find a flex plate without a counter weight.:thumbsup:

any flexplate with the right bolt pattern except for one from a 400 small block or a 454 will work.
even if all you can get is one for a 6 cylinder or a 409, you are good to go as long as it's the right diameter..
