I need some cam advice for my 396 that I'm putting in my 75 chevy truck. Here is what I have to work with. .030 396, 390 closed chamber oval ports, edelbrock intake, 650 double pumper Holley, 66 vette exhaust manifolds, 2 1/2 inch exhaust, turbo 400, 3:73 posi. I want to run a hydraulic cam in it. I also would like it to have somewhat of a loap to the idle, and I want to shred my 275/60's. Any recomendations? Thanks

Do a search,lots of good info out there. A Lunati Voodoo 276 would be nice or maybe a Bracket Master cam. I would get some good headers and a good 750 carb though.

I've got an XE284 cam in my 396....it lopes and sheds tires but is probably not going to be street friendly for your truck unless it's just a toy and not going to be used for towing and such.

Just pick any cam with a 110LSA, keep the .050 duration to a max of 230 and make sure you get at minimum a 2400 stall converter, 2800 would be better. As far as I am concerned, probably not a whole lot of difference between a '69 Chevelle and a reg cab pickup, maybe a couple hundred pounds?

Actually my 69 small block chevelle with a full tank weighs 3490. My 1983 regular cab long box 2WD with a small block weighs 4200 with full tanks. So, the difference is actually like 700 pounds. More if the truck is 4WD.
