Need help with header size for the following combo:

396 .30 over
10.5:1 TRW forged pistons
Forged steel crank
Voodoo 268 cam (60203 227/[email protected] .542/554 lift 110 LSA)
Oval port 290 heads with minor port work
2.19/1.84 valves
1.7 Aluminum roller rockers
RPM Air Gap manifold
Speed Demon 750 carb vacuum secondary
TH350 w/shift kit (Until it blows then TH400)

My mechanic is saying the 1 7/8 but seems most of you use the 1 3/4. I am looking for bottom end torque but want to make sure she can breathe!!!

Many thanks for all the advice.

I would go with the 1 3/4 headers. I have run both and while the 1 3/4 didn't seem to pick up any ET it deffinitely seems to pull stronger and have more pull through the mid range rpm's.

Swyper- Check your PM's please. Thanks.
