With the 2.56-1 I'm cruising down the highway 2000 rpm at around 60 mph. About the same as overdrive. Still need that fourth gear for taking off. Not enough power for Bonneville. It's just a cruiser.
355 On The Road
I finally got the 355 out on the highway and am in the process of getting the advance curve dialed in a little closer. Some pinging under load. With the previous engine, which turned out to be a .040" over 307, the Magna Flow mufflers had a very irritating drone between 1500 and 2000 rpm. With the new setup, the drone is much less to the point of not being a nuisance. Not a race car by any stretch, but with the 2.56-1 rearend, it should be a nice highway cruiser.
