How much should it be for a new 350 engine or a 429? I have been thinking about putting a larger engine into my Chevelle for some time, but just recently received the money to do so.

$2K could set you up with a basic 300 hp GM crate motor.

Or you could just buy some new air cleaner emblems for $10

It depends on what you want. A Target engine is somewhere around $1500, give or take. A ZZ4 crate engine is around $3K.

What would be the best engine for a cheap price? I want one just fast enough to blow away an import with a punky teen in it. I have $2500 to spend.

GM Performance Parts 350 HO - 330Hp/380Tq
You can get it from Jim Pace, Sallee Chevrolet or from Jegs for a little over 2k. Factor in Truck frieght and thats a little over the 2500 you saved. Keep in mind that doesn't come with a manifold, which needs to be Vortec Specific, so add an extra 200 for that.

Definitely an import killer - That should take care of 5.0's and third gen camaro's too
