Getting ready to clean for paint. Frame is out for ten days for sandblasting and now have changed to thermal plastic. Got a good deal.
Did a little scrapping and hand wire brushing before starting the drill wire brush cleaning. View attachment 700440 View attachment 700441
My eyes aren’t as good anymore, but I think most will come clea. It’s my trunk that has issues. Thanks for following.Wow. Am I seeing correctly? Is what I thought was rust, actually only caked on dirt?
I planned to por15 it since I had a gallon+ and cleaner and prep, but things change. Like my frame was going to be por15, then thermal plastic, finally ended up powder coat and I am very pleased. I’m going to see if my paint guy will spray as much as possible rather than brush. That will also include control arms and other items briny and back. Thanks and let me know how yours is going.Looking awesome!!! The bag under the rear seems like a smart idea... i probably should do that before i flip mine for further cleaning.
What are you going to paint the rear with? POR 15 or something else? I've been considering brushing on OIL based rustoleum semigloss black, or maybe looking at a farm implement enamel after i finish stripping and cleaning mine.
Thanks, it’s been a lot of work so far just to this point, but not having a lot of rust makes things way better. The rust is minimal thank to where it’s sat most it’s life. Thanks again and please don’t hate to much, after seeming my other parts cleaned I’m jealous toOK, after restoring my last rust bucket I have to say I hate you, I resent you and I want that rust free car, especially that unbelievable frame. She is gonna be a very nice ride. Best of luck. Did I say I hate you, ok maybe I don't hate you but just little bit jealous![]()
