Folks, I;m piecing back together the exuast system with new MAgnaflow 12578s. They have 3" ID outlets.

I cannot find a reducer that will SLIP over the 3.06" OD of the 12578 and connect to the 2.5" tails.

Any ideas? I have 2 different WALKER reducers and neither gets it done. They either slip into the 3" ID or butt right up. As did the fancy SS ones I bought, butted up.

TIA ! Last resort is to take it to a shop.

Just a suggestion, bring the mufflers and tail pipes to a shop and have them bump up the tails on the pipe expander so they fit into the mufflers.

Exactly what Mr. 4 Speed said. Your local muffler shop has a machine that will expand the pipe easy as Pi.

Can rent (free loan) the tool from your local auto parts store as well

You can either have them expanded (the do it yourself tool is not worth it FYI) at a shop. Or, I would just buttweld that connection.....
Another alternative would be a stainless band clamp, and position the bolts to the inside where you can not see them...

I would have a 3.00” to 2 1/2” cone reducer opened up to slip over the muffler to get a better transition out of the muffler

That's the plan Wes. In fact, I sent two nice ( and spendy!) SS cones back to Summit and picked up 2 sets of Walker steel reducers whcih I thought I could rig up myself. Nope.

I am NOT going back under Old Red to fiddle with that exhaust. I;ll never screw with exhaust again. Oh, its hung well, and looks mint, but never again.

A joint called MUFFLERMAN in Buffalo NY, and various locations in ON, Canada is going to get some work real soon to get the tail pipes on.

I would get something like this and just have an exhaust shop expand the 3'' end a little to fit over the muffler outlet.

I've had three sets of them, and yes I am going to visit the best custom shop around. Only question remaining is stainless or steel> but I's a-gonna ask them!

if its 409 SS, pass IMHO and experience. Aluminized steel pipe the best.

PS, they dont even make the Magnaflow 12578s I use in steel anymore, all SS. They and all the new clamps are SS. Rest of the system is WELL COATED ( 427 burned a wee bit of oil) 20yr old aluminzed pipe.

I have used these on multiple occasions. Usually before the mufflers but if the length isn't a killer it may work for the tailpipe.

THNX confused. I stopped at hanging the mufflers, havent yet installed the tails where these maybe needed. My issue was the 3" ID of the Magnaflow muffler outlet. 3" to 2.5" cones aren't made that way it seems!
