How much of a performance difference is there between a 9" wide slick vs a 10" wide. Tire in question is a M/T brand. Car is a mid 11 second BBC, stock suspension deal. I normally run a 28x10 but I found a deal on some new 28x9's. Does the width affect traction as much as rollout or is it a combination of both?

I don't think you'll notice any difference. A friend of mine back home, and you may even know him (Bob Mullikin), was running 12 teens with a `69 RAIV Judge on 26"x8"-14" slicks on stock 14"x6" GTO Rally II wheels and never had any traction issues. Completely stock suspension, TH400 and a 3,500 converter.
