have they fixed the parking at PBIR ?

Last 2 times i went was when it first opened as PBIR and parking was a nightmare not only was in like 10 bucs to get in i think they hit me for another 10$ to park after sitting in a almost hour long line..... took 2 hours to get out.... i also heard that they bus people in from the airport across the street or something ?

I live 10mins away but the parking was so bad last times i went i swore to never go back.

Not sure about the parking. I've been to the track 3 times since the 2009 Super Chevy Show (which was about 5 months after they opened as PBIR), and never had an issue finding parking space, nor have I been charged a parking fee. Was just at the track this past Saturday, and they still have all the parking space just outside the main gate at entrance 2. Track was hooking fine and there was a decent count of racers. You could always call the track and ask them what the plans are for spectator parking / overflow if needed.

It's too bad some of these planners don't do a little research to see what else is going on that same weekend. You have the Festival Spring Show which routinely draws 800 or so cars just down the road in Broward. You have Barrett-Jackson in town for the weekend which is always a big draw and you also have the Charlotte NC Autofair which a lot of people from down here like to attend.

I am tentatively planning to attend Super Chevy/PBIR to bracket race my Chevelle. My brother-in-law is coming with me as well, trailering his nicely restored 1965 C10 to show. I have also heard horror stories of parking at the new PBIR, and since I cannot arrive until Saturday morning, I emailed the track asking if they expected parking for tow rigs/race vehicles/show vehicles to be problem. They promptly responded, but didn't exactly give a straight answer...they attached an aerial photo of the facility and said they have plenty of parking.

If I drive 600 miles from Atlanta and have to park across the road at Pratt & Whitney, I'm going to be pi$$ed...

From my experience at this facility, the recent horror stories stem from the new managements' inexperience in running an event like this. They have been trying to cram the vendors and racers all to 1 side of the track. Much of that lot is still gravel and that idea takes up the much needed parking space for the tow riggs. They have plenty of room around their new road course for the show cars and vendors, leaving everything to the right for the racers. I believe this is the layout they're using this year due to many complaints from the vendors. If they lay it out like this, they have plenty of parking.

There is plenty of parking no matter what the layout. The problem is craming every one in... They will put u in a corner with 27 cars around u so u can hardly get out or in for the matter... If any one attends i would really appreciate an update on parking..... I heard if u get there very early its no problem.

id really love to go to this track since im around the corner but i cant handle long lines and crowding when its not necessary

As mentioned, the track has had some teething pains since the great overhaul back in 2008. I have been going to Moroso / PBIR since the mid 1980s, and based on the information and layout I've gotten from Super Chevy Show, I'd stand to reason things should go well (but never 100%, because no car event I've ever attended in 20+ years has ever gone without a hitch, be it small or large).

Since I'll be there with National Parts Depot and have been in discussions for the last few months on the cruise from our location, plus the fact I wanted to race the event anyways, I have an interest on many levels that the event goes well.

From the maps I've seen, spectator parking will be by the 2nd gate (which is located just outside the road course, so the walking should be that bad). It's decent sized, but of course overflow might be needed if the count gets up there. Vendors are supposed to be on the road course just to the left of the tower, while the car show will be just across from the vendor midway on the road course infield.

I was at the track this past Saturday, and there was still plenty of room for racers with the healthy turnout they had on hand (8 of 9 lanes filled with cars going around the back for first round).

I'll be there Friday afternoon with my green '70 Nova. Come say hello in the staging lanes or at the NPD tent!

This should read: From the maps I've seen, spectator parking will be by the 2nd gate (which is located just outside the road course, so the walking distance should not be that bad).

An update on the cruise schedule and route:

Participants are encouraged to meet at Nationals Part Depot headquarters starting at 8:00a.m. (our address is 900 SW 38th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34474). Please arrive at NPD’s parking-lot fueled-up, and ready to go. We will have coffee and donuts available, and will also open the doors to our 180-plus collection of original and restored cars.

The cruise will depart at 10:00a.m. and is approximately four hours of driving time, not including gas stops or the lunch break.

The first gas stop will be at mile marker 229 on the Florida Turnpike (about 104 miles from our starting point, around 11:30-11:45 a.m.).

After the fill-up, we will continue south for the second leg of the trip (about 35 miles on the Florida Turnpike, and just over 33 miles on US-441, a two-lane road for a slightly more relaxed cruising speed) before stopping for lunch around the 1-1:30 p.m. mark.

Once lunch is complete, we will drive just over a mile for the second and final gas stop. From there, the last leg of the trip will cover just shy of 39 miles on the mostly two-lane FL-710 road. We should arrive at Palm Beach International Raceway around 4 p.m.

If you have any questions, please shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] or through PM here.

Hope to see you on Friday the 8th!

Cruise and show went well. It was a little warm, but the turnout was great! I was busy between the NPD tent and racing my car, but I heard from several people the show turnout was great with lots of nice cars. I caught a few glances of the '70 Baldwin-Motion Chevelle that was parked by their new 2011 Motion Camaro on the midway.

I made the tow down with my brother-in-law, and we had a great time. He won his class in the car show with his 65 C10, and I went four rounds in the Bracket 2/No Box class, losing at 9 cars remaining. Earned $75, so that covered the $65 entry fee :)

I also met the assistant editor of Super Chevy magazine, I think he said he name was Patrick, and he awarded me a plaque for Editor's Choice/Top 10 Race Cars.

Congrats to both of you on a good weekend! I saw your Chevelle in the lanes but never got a chance to come say hello. I have a soft spot for green cars :D and yes the asso. editor for Super Chevy magazine is Patrick Hill. Nice guy and a car nut with a decent history around the Florida tracks.
